Road to Wimbledon 2025
Krejčíková has had a rough season in 2025. The back injury she suffered kept her out for almost five months and allowed her only six games this month after returning in May. Once again, she had to withdraw her entry from the Eastbourne Open- this time it was a thigh muscle injury. Krejčíková, however, throws up all those dark kinds of feelings as her mind is on defending her title she won at Wimbledon. She said: “It’s actually really, really nice to be here and very nice even after all that time out to be playing again.”
Meeting Eala in the first round, an emerging talent from among the younger generations at age 20, promises to be a serious benchmark of her current form. The young Eala has been impressive this season as she reached the semi-finals at the Miami Open and later ended up at the final of Eastbourne. Krejcikova knows she must be on the top of her game from the outset.
Krejcikova has been stymied in terms of match play by injuries in recent times, and yet her unmatched grass court pedigree and experience acquired from those successes can’t be ignored. The draw for women is wide open, with many top contenders for the title, which makes Krejcikova’s journey in defending her title arduous yet really interesting.
Now the Wimbledon title is arduous to defend, but past glory suggests Krejčíková will still go in the running. How she overcomes her setbacks and performs under pressure would prove key for the forthcoming bouts.
